Filming in Fernie

The City of Fernie is surrounded by picturesque views that provide an ideal background for photography and videography projects.

A film permit is required for any filming (still photography or motion) on City of Fernie municipal property for commercial purposes.  Commercial purpose examples include a professional photoshoot for a product or service, or filming of a TV series, film or advertisement.  Wedding photoshoots do not require a permit at this time.  

To apply for a film permit, please follow the instructions below:  

1) Review the Film Permit Application Guide

2) Complete the Film Permit Application and send it to recreation@fernie.ca 

• include all supporting documentation as outlined in the application form

3)  Apply for a Business License 

A City of Fernie staff member will review your application within 14 business days.  If approved, a Film Permit and Filming Agreement will be issued.
