Fernie Memorial Arena Food Concession - Request For Proposals

The Corporation of the City of Fernie, hereafter referred to as the City, is requesting proposals from interested parties for the lease and operation of the food concession facility at Fernie Memorial Arena, 1092 Highway 3, Fernie, B.C. A variety of snack and light meal options should include nutritional choices.

The successful vendor will enter into a Lease Agreement with the City for a two (2) year period with a potential to renew.

Fernie Memorial Arena is located adjacent to Highway 3 within the core of the City. The arena consists of a single ice sheet, seating for over 1000 persons and is home to a variety of user groups (minor hockey, figure skating, junior ‘b’ hockey, adult recreational hockey, etc.). In addition, the facility also annually hosts events such as the Mine Rescue Competitions, Figure Skating Carnival, and Graduation.

The food services area is 27.92 square meters in an area well situated in the building, close to the lobby. There are existing two openings for counter service into the arena lobby. There are no formal seating areas directly associated with the concession room but space is allocated within the lobby area for the placement of a condiment cart.

The traditional hours of operation of the arena are as follows:

• Regular Season (First Operating Tuesday in September to the First Friday in April)
  • 6:00am to 12:00midnight
• Pre-season operation runs from the Sunday immediately after the BC Day Statutory weekend until the start of the normal operating season
  • Open dependent on user groups activities
• Post Season operation runs from the first Saturday of April until the 3rd Saturday of April.

Note: Currently there are no vending machines in this facility, however vending services can be considered through this RFP submission.

The City of Fernie reserves the right to cancel this Request for Proposal for any reason whatsoever without any liability to the City of Fernie.
