Operational Fuel Management Program
The City is seeking proposals from qualified firms to implement fuel treatments to reduce hazardous fuels and fire behaviour adjacent to our community. Our goal in fuel treatments is to reduce both surface and Crown land fuel loads in a manner that reduces fire hazard and fire behaviour potential and is consistent with the goals and objectives of the Community Wildfire Protection Plans (CWPPs). Projects will require experienced fuel treatment or harvesting contractors who can provide the equipment and expertise necessary to meet project deadlines, hire and supervise workers, and can work in unconventional stands close to public and structures, with unique fuel treatment prescriptions.
The Corporation of the City of Fernie (the City) believes that selection of a qualified contractor is critical to the success or failure of a project and interested firms are advised the intent of this Request for Proposal is to select the successful proponent based on criteria deemed most advantageous to the City. This document outlines the general scope of work and the basic requirements for the proposal document.
Proposals marked “Operational Fuel Management Program” will be received at the City of Fernie for the provision of Operational Fuel Management Treatments to reduce hazardous fuels and fire behaviour consistent with the Community Wildfire Protection Plans (CWPPs) for three areas proposed for treatment with a total area of 8.7 ha.
