The Corporation of the City of Fernie (the City) is seeking proposals from qualified firms for the provision of proposals to improve the City’s development application and approval process, bylaws, policies, and communication tools with the goal of increasing housing diversity and number of attainable housing units in Fernie.
The City believes that selection of a qualified contractor is critical to the success or failure of any project and interested firms are advised that the intent of this Request for Proposals is to select the successful proponent based on criteria deemed most advantageous to the City.
The purpose of this RFP is to procure professional services in planning and development, municipal process improvement, policy development, stakeholder and public engagement and communications to work with staff to improve development application and approval processes, bylaws, policies, and communication tools with the goal of increasing the diversity and number of attainable housing units in Fernie.
Through the review, re-development, and implementation of a new policy framework around development approvals, this project seeks several additional outcomes including establishing development certainty, transparent access to information, engagement and collaboration standards, sustainable asset management practices, and clear and concise communication regarding level of service targets for this service area.
Proposals marked “City of Fernie Development Approvals Enhancements RFP” will be received at the City of Fernie, City Hall, PO Box 190, 501-3rd Avenue, Fernie, BC up to 2:00PM local time, April 19, 2022 for the provision of proposals to improve the City’s development application and approval process, bylaws, policies and communication tools with the goal of increasing housing diversity and number of attainable housing units in Fernie.
