The due date for Property Taxes is the first business day of July.
By Phone or Internet
You can pay your taxes by telephone or via the internet by making the necessary arrangements with your financial institution. If you choose this method of payment you will still need to submit your completed Home Owner Grant application directly to the City of Fernie by the due date.Please allow a minimum of 5 days for the City to receive your payment from your financial institution. Receipt of your electronic payment will be recorded at the date and time the funds arrive at the City's financial institution and not when the payment is transmitted by your financial institution. If your payment isn't received in the City's account by the due date it will be considered late and will be subject to a 10% penalty.
Cheques with the completed Home Owner Grant Application can be mailed to the City of Fernie, PO Box 190, Fernie, BC, V0B 1M0. Mailed payments must be received by the due date to avoid a 10% penalty. Postmarks will not be considered as date of payment. Cheques postdated to the due date will be accepted.
At your Financial Institution
You can pay your property taxes in person at most major financial institutions. If eligible, you will still need to submit your completed Home Owner Grant application directly to City Hall.
In Person at City Hall
Cash, cheque and Interact payments can be made in person at City Hall Monday to Friday during regular office hours excluding statutory holidays. After hours cheques with the completed Home Owner Grant Application attached can bedropped in the mail slot in the front door of City Hall. Cheques received prior to the due date and postdated to the due date will be accepted.
