This July 1st, the City of Fernie invites you to celebrate Canada Day while appreciating the unique culture, heritage, and important contributions of the First Nations, Inuit, and Métis people.

Join the Yaq̓it ʔa·knuqⱡi ‘it First Nation and the City of Fernie for a Reconciliation Walk and ceremony beginning at 9:45 am. The ceremony will begin at 10:00 with the walk to follow immediately after. We ask that you show your support by being socially distanced along the route as we walk through town.

Orange t-shirts will be for sale by the Yaq̓it ʔa·knuqⱡi ‘it after the parade at City Hall grounds.

After the parade, enjoy cupcakes with Mayor and Council at City Hall (while supplies last).

You can also take part in the Fernie Rotary Club’s Scramble and learn about Fernie and the surrounding area, and cap off the day with the Drive- In Movie at the Fernie Alpine Resort at 10:00 pm. For details and tickets, please go to Community Drive-In Movie Night.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to weather conditions and BC Wild Fire Services restrictions, the fireworks have been cancelled.
