Notice of Zoning Bylaw Amendment - Bylaw No. 2556, 2026

Pursuant to Section 467 of the Local Government Act, the Council for the City of Fernie gives notice that they will consider first, second and third reading of Zoning Bylaw No. 1750, Amendment Bylaw No. 2556, 2026, an amendment to the Zoning Bylaw, at a Regular Meeting of Council on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. at the Fernie Senior Citizens Drop-In Centre located at 562 3rd Avenue, Fernie, BC V0B 1M0. Council meetings are available for all members of the public to attend or watch electronically via a Zoom webinar link posted to the City of Fernie website prior to each meeting. | PURPOSE: | To rezone a portion of the subject property from P1 – Public Institutional to CD6 – Comprehensive Development Six Zone to permit a high-density residential development in an apartment building configuration. |
INSPECTION OF DOCUMENTS
A copy of the proposed amendments to Zoning Bylaw No. 1750 and other relevant documents may be viewed on our “Latest News” page on the City website at www.fernie.ca and in person at City Hall, located at 501 3rd Avenue, during the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday to Friday, excluding statutory holidays. Questions and clarifications on the proposed amendments can be directed to the Planning Department at 250-423-6817 or by email at planning@fernie.ca.
The purpose of this notice is to notify the public of the proposed bylaw amendment, however, pursuant to the Local Government Act, the City of Fernie must not hold a public hearing for the proposed bylaw amendments as the proposed bylaw complies with Section 464(3).
This Notice is provided in accordance with Section 467 of the Local Government Act.
