Jul 22, 2016The public is advised City of Fernie crews have contained a sanitary sewer flow that entered the Elk River this afternoon from the storm sewer outfall near 6th Avenue. The City was notified of the incident earlier today and took immediate measures to contain the outflow of sanitary sewage, placing absorbent materials around the storm sewer outfall and installing screens to further contain future flows. At the same time, public works personnel have been working to locate the source of the sewage flow.
Jul 22, 2016Notice is given that the City of Fernie intends to petition the Minister of Community, Sport and Cultural Development to request an extension of the area of the municipality to include a lot north of Brenners Road where the Fernie Ford Dealership is currently situated. Eligible electors opposed to the City's intention to petition the Minister to request an extension of the municipality without first obtaining the assent of the electors by a referendum vote may indicate their opposition by signing and returning an Elector Response Form to City Hall by the deadline.

This is a volunteer driven program which uses reader boards on high traffic volume streets to raise driver's awareness of their speed as well as to monitor motorists displaying distracted driving behaviour.
