Notice of Informal Public Hearing February 10

Pursuant to Section 499 of the Local Government Act, public notice is hereby given that Council for the City of Fernie will consider Development Variance Permit No. 455 at the regular meeting to be held on MONDAY, February 10, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. in Council Chambers, City Hall, 501-3rd Avenue, Fernie BC.          

This is the second Informal Hearing for Development Variance Permit No. 455. Council will recieve new information from the applicant regarding the impacts of the proposed signage lighting on neighbouring residents.

The applicant has requested a variance to the City of Fernie Sign Bylaw No. 1888 as follows to:

  • Increase the number of maximum signs allowed on the subject property:
    • Total Signs from 3 to 31;
    • Fascia Signs from 1 to 3;
    • Projecting Signs from 1 to 24;
  • Allow for the proposed price changer signs to be interior lit signs (Conditional that only the number portion of the signs be interior lit);
  • Allow the “ESSO” sign panel to be installed on the free-standing sign to have a white background.

The applicant has amended the development variance permit application by removing the request to vary the maximum height of a free-standing sign in section 9.3.1(f) of Sign Bylaw No. 1888.
