Coal Creek Utility Repairs to Begin
July 17, 2024Coal Creek between the Pine Ave (Cokato Rd) Bridge and the CPKC Rail Bridge will be temporarily closed for community use from approximately Tuesday, July 23rd through Saturday July 27th as a contractor will be working on utility repairs for the two mains that cross Coal Creek at that location. -

Camp Fire Ban in Effect
July 11, 2024As of July 12, 2024 at 1 pm Mountain Time, a campfire ban is in effect for the City of Fernie. The City's fire ban mirrors the ban implemented for the entire Southeast Fire Centre, and also includes prohibitions on Category 2 and 3 fires already implemented. -
Invasive and Noxious Weed Management Program
July 11, 2024Over the coming weeks, a contractor will spraying invasive and noxious weeds in identified priority areas across the City. -
Watering Restrictions in Effect
July 9, 2024Due to turbidity at Fairy Creek, and demand exceeding capacity of the James White Wells, the City of Fernie is asking residents to reduce their water use to conserve water. -
Category 2 Fire Restrictions in Effect
July 9, 2024Effective July 5, 2024, Category 2 burns are prohibited in southeast BC including Fernie and area. -
Zoning Bylaw Amendments Adopted
July 2, 2024On June 11, 2024, Council adopted changes to the City of Fernie's Zoning Bylaw that support the creation of more affordable and diverse housing configurations, helping to increase the local supply of dwelling units. -
