Notice of Disposition Cedar Avenue Land Exchange Agreement
Notice is given that the Council of the City of Fernie (the “City”) intends to dispose of municipal land in accordance with s. 26 of the Community Charter.
The proposed disposition is a transfer of a portion of municipal road to be closed located on Cedar Avenue, to BC Transportation Financing Authority and the Province of British Columbia (Ministry of Transportation and Transit (MOTT) in exchange for a transfer of a portion of lands to the City for the purpose of public highway.
The City will transfer approximately 799m² of the closed road at Cedar Avenue to MOTT in consideration of an exchange for approximately 933.5m² of land from District Lot 4138, as shown on Plan EPP149998, to be dedicated as public highway pursuant to the Land Title Act. The lands subject to the exchange are illustrated in the diagram below.

Notice is given under s. 94 of the Community Charter, that the Council of the City of Fernie will consider adopting Cedar Avenue Highway Closure and Removal of Highway Dedication Bylaw No. 2553, 2026 at the Regular Council Meeting held at the Fernie Senior Citizens Drop-In Centre, 562 3rd Avenue, Fernie BC V0B 1M0, on June 9, 2026, at 6:30 p.m.
Pursuant to Section 40(3)(b) of the Community Charter, any persons who consider they are affected by the bylaw are invited to make representations to Council through written submissions outlined below.

Public input will be accepted through written submission and must be submitted before 2:00 p.m. the day of the Council Meeting (June 9, 2026) where the Bylaw will be considered for adoption by any of the following formats:
