New Curbside Collection Provider

Starting May 1, the City of Fernie will be using a new waste contractor, SRP Projects, for the curbside collection program. As part of the new contract, SRP will be the first contact for residents with questions about cart repairs and replacement, as well as reporting a missed collection. For all inquiries, please contact SRP directly at 250-946-8370.

The 2026 Curbside Collection Schedule will remain the same. We ask that you continue to place your carts on the curb between 5:00 and 7:00 a.m. on your collection days. It's the time of year when we see an increase in bear activity around town, and securing attractants is the best way to keep people safe, prevent property damage, and avoid unnecessary wildlife conflict.

SRP Projects has deep roots in solid waste management for cities and towns in Central Alberta. This year, SRP has expanded operations into British Columbia. We look forward to partnering with them to deliver a consistent and efficient automated curbside collection program.

The City would like to thank GFL for their many years of curbside service, supporting the changeover to automated cart collection, partnering with Recycle BC for more recycling at the curb, and the rollout of the Organics program.
