Highway Resurfacing - Fernie Section Update

Construction on the Highway 3 - Fernie Section Resurfacing project began today. Starting at the ski hill, construction crews are repaving the highway to the East Fernie bridge in two phases.
Following significantly higher-than-anticipated traffic volumes today, paving on Highway 3 – Fernie Section has moved to a night shift schedule to help reduce daytime congestion and delays for residents, visitors, and commercial traffic.
Effective immediately, work hours will be from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., Monday through Saturday with no work on Sundays or over long weekends. During work hours traffic will be down to single-lane alternating traffic and a construction speed zone of 50km/hour will be in place. Please follow all posted signage.
