Flood Watch Issued for East Kootenays

The BC River Forecast Centre has issued a Flood Watch for our region, with up-to 110 milimetres of rain expected in the coming days. Combined with warm weather, this could lead to rising water levels and localized flooding.

The City has a Flood Response Plan in place that is adaptable to the changing conditions, and we are monitoring water levels and roads prone to flooding.

We're advising residents to be prepared, and to stay well back from rivers and creeks when water levels are high and during extreme weather events as water levels can change rapidly

If you are worried about localized flooding, you can access the City’s self-fill sandbag station next to the City’s Operations yard on Railway Ave. Bags are provided, please bring your own shovel and gloves.
