Winterizing Program Underway in City Parks

Fall is in the air, and City staff are busy winterizing our parks and outdoor facilities in preparation for colder weather.

The Splash Park outside the Aquatic Centre is now closed for the season. The water has been turned off to prepare for winterization, ensuring the facility is in great shape to re-open next spring.

The public washrooms at Rotary Park and Prentice Park are closed for the season. The all-season washrooms in Station Square will remain open over the winter.

City Staff are also in the process of shutting off irrigation and drinking water fountains in all City Parks. Over the coming weeks, we will also be taking down shade sails and putting away nets at the outdoor tennis courts and pickle ball courts.

As we shut down our seasonal facilities, there are still lots of recreation opportunities available. See what activities and programming we have going on at the Fernie Aquatic Centre and Fernie Memorial Arena here.
