NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT a public hearing has been scheduled for TUESDAY, December 16, 2025, at 6:30 PM at the Senior Citizens Drop-In Centre, located at 562 – 3rd Avenue, Fernie, BC, so that Council may hear representations from persons who believe their interest is affected by the proposed amendments to Official Community Plan Bylaw No. 2231. Public hearings are open for all members of the public to attend in person or to participate electronically via a Zoom webinar link, posted to the City of Fernie website prior to the meeting. Public hearings may also be viewed via a YouTube live stream from the City of Fernie YouTube channel. Please visit www.fernie.ca/meetings for more information.

BYLAW: Bylaw 2540, cited as Official Community Plan Bylaw No. 2231, Amendment Bylaw No. 2540, 2025.
PURPOSE: To comply with Bill 44, the Province of British Columbia Small Scale Multi-Unit Housing legislation, The City of Fernie is proposing to amend the City of Fernie Official Community Plan Bylaw No. 2231 to incorporate the findings of the City of Fernie Housing Needs Report (2025) into the City’s Official Community Plan and make the Official Community Plan consistent with the City’s Zoning Bylaw No. 1750 relating to Small-Scale Multi-Unit Housing zoning regulations.
INSPECTION OF DOCUMENTS
A copy of the proposed amendments to Official Community Plan Bylaw No.2231 and other relevant documents may be viewed on the “Latest News” page on the city’s website, or in person at City Hall, 501 – 3rd Avenue.
Public participation in the public hearing will be accepted through written submission, in person participation or electronic participation. For information on how to participate in a hearing, please visit www.fernie.ca/meetings.
