New Business Licence Fees for 2026

Earlier this year, the City reviewed Standard Business Licence and Short-Term Rental Business Licence Fees to ensure they remain fair, competitive, and reflective of administrative and enforcement costs. After engaging with the business community and STR operators, new fee structures were adopted.
Previously, STR operators paid the same fees as standard businesses. However, the program requires significantly more time and resources to administer and enforce. There are two types of STR Business Licences in Fernie, each with different impacts and levels of oversight, and the updated fees reflect that.
New Annual Fees:
Standard Business Licence - $150
Condo/Hotel STRs - $700
Primary Residence STRs - $500
