Jennifer Cronin Receives George S Majic Spiritus Award
December 11, 2025
Council awarded the 2025 George S. Majic Spiritus Award to Jennifer Cronin at a special ceremony on December 9, 2025.
The Spiritus Award celebrates community members whose contribution and commitment to our city embody strong community values and enhance the lives of fellow residents. This award is presented annually by the City of Fernie in memory of Mr. George Majic, a man dedicated to supporting his community and enriching the lives of others.
Jennifer represents the true spirit of community service by generously donating her time and strengthening community connection without ever seeking recognition.
In addition to countless hours volunteering and helping out with community events, Jennifer served as long-time publisher of the Fernie Free Press, leads the Remembrance Day ceremony each year, and is the multi-term President of the Legion Branch 26, guiding $30,0000 of contributions back into the community.
She was also instrumental, as one of her nominators described, “in the creation of the iconic train mural at Station Square, a piece of public art that adds beauty, history, and character to Fernie.”
Congratulations, Jennifer, and thank you for your continued dedication to our community.
