City Welcomes New Youth Councillor

The City of Fernie is excited to welcome Pari Parmar as the Youth Councillor for the 2025-2026 term.

Pari is currently a Grade 12 student at Fernie Secondary School and has previously attended The Fernie Academy. She is also a Youth Representative for the Elk Valley Rugby Club, a member of the Youth Leadership Advisory Committee, and a lifeguard. Pari has a strong interest in leadership and community volunteering, and she wants to learn more about municipal government. During her term as Youth Councillor, Pari hopes to give back to her community, especially the youth population.

The Youth Councillor is a one-year volunteer position that will bring a youth perspective to Council matters and discussions, raising awareness of the issues facing youth in Fernie and informing the community about city operations and activities.

Tune in to Council meetings via Zoom or the City's YouTube channel to hear Pari represent Fernie’s youth community on local issues.
