Aquatic Centre Slide Tower Replacement

We are happy to announce that long-awaited repairs to the slide tower at the Aquatic Centre are now underway.
The water slide has been closed since 2021 due to structural issues with the slide tower that made it unsafe for use.
The City budgeted for the replacement last year, but was unable to find a contractor to make the required upgrades during the scheduled summer maintenance shutdown.
Work started this week removing the concrete on the slide platform in advance of the new slide tower being built.
To reduce impacts to programming, and avoid an extended closure of the pool, the work on the slide tower will be done over the coming months on Sundays when the Aquatic Centre is already scheduled to be closed to the public.
We are looking forward to re-opening this favourite amenity later this spring.
