Road Closure due to House Explosion

6th Avenue, from 5th Street to 6th Street, has been reopened after a house explosion that occured this morning.

 

Fernie Fire and Emergency Services have stabilized the site, confirming the fire has been extinguished and neighbouring homes have been saved.

 

One resident was inside the home at the time of the incident, but managed to successfully evacuate before crews arrived. Several homes in this block are without gas and hydro services.

 

Residents can expect this section of road to remain closed this afternoon. Please avoid this area, allowing crews the space they need to manage the scene.
