BC Now Requires Proof of Vaccination

Starting today, everyone in B.C. aged 12+ must verify they’ve had at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine to access many businesses, services, and events.

How does the B.C. government's proof of vaccination requirements affect your access to recreation at City of Fernie facilities? Here are the key points.

General use of Facilities:

  • Proof of vaccination is NOT required to attend public programming at the Aquatic Centre or Arena

Sporting Groups:

  • Indoor Adult Group and Team Sports: Adults aged 22+ participating in indoor team sports ARE required to provide proof of vaccination when entering city facilities.
  • Youth Sports: youth, coaches and support staff for youth activities are NOT required to show proof of vaccination.
  • The organizer of the adult sport group or event is responsible for checking proof of vaccination upon entry to facilities.

Masks are still required for everyone aged 12+ entering all indoor facilities.

Please note Provincial and Health Region requirements may change at any time. For detailed information about safety protocols at our city facilities, visit www.fernie.ca/activenet
