Notice of Development Variance Permit - Public Input

Pursuant to Section 499 of the Local Government Act, notice is hereby given that Council for the Corporation of the City of Fernie will consider Development Variance Permit No. 457 which affects the property and land within the City of Fernie at the 10th Avenue road extension commonly known as Ghostrider Crossing. This permit will be considered at the regular meeting of Council on TUESDAY, April 14, 2020 at 7:00 p.m.

Pursuant to Ministerial Order No. M083 issued by the Minister of Public Safety and Solicitor General, and in compliance with social-distancing orders, Council meetings will not be open to the public during the COVID-19 public health emergency but will be available by video livestream and archived here.

Development Variance Permit No. 457

LOCATION: 10th Avenue Road Extension to commercial development commonly known as Ghostrider Crossing 

LEGAL DESCRIPTION: Lot 1, District Lot 4588, Kootenay District Plan NEP71247 except Plans NEP71584, NEP72208 and NEP79745

PURPOSE: This permit is being considered for the purpose of varying Subdivision and Development Servicing Bylaw No. 1727 as follows:
(1) Vary Standard Drawing B-3b: Road Section Urban Collection Highway without Parking 20m R/W
• to exclude the requirement for 1.35m wide sidewalk; and
• to reduce the required 11m wide paved carriageway to 10.6m wide.

The 10th Avenue Road Extension will provide access to the Ghostrider Crossing two lot highway commercial development.

The proposed Development Variance Permit, Subdivision and Development Servicing Bylaw and other relevant documents can be inspected online at the City of  Fernie website at www.fernie.ca from April 1, 2020 to April 14, 2020.

All persons wishing to voice their opinion regarding this permit may do so in writing to Mayor & Council by any of the following means:
