Winter Parking Regulations in Effect November 1

The City of Fernie's Winter Parking Regulations will be in effect from November 1, 2019 until April, 15 2020. Residents are asked to familiarize themselves with the alternate day parking schedule that is in effect in all areas that parking is not controlled by signage.

The Winter Parking Regulations are put into effect each winter to help facilitate effective snow removal. In residential areas, the restrictions allow City plows to clear the snow back to the boulevards on alternating days. In other areas like the downtown core, parking is controlled by posted signage, and restricts parking on either side of the street overnight.

The only neighbourhood that will see a change to their Winter Parking Schedule this winter is Maintown North. On 2nd Avenue, from 8th Street to 13th Street, parking was previously controlled by signage. That signage has been removed and, in an effort to align this neighbourhood with other residential areas, they will now follow the alternate day parking schedule found throughout the rest of Fernie.

Winter Parking Maps for all neighbourhoods in Fernie are available for print of download online.

Vehicles parked contrary to the Winter Parking Regulations or posted signage are subject to ticketing, or towing and vehicle impoundment.
