Pursuant to Section 499 of the Local Government Act, public notice is hereby given that Council for the City of Fernie will consider Development Variance Permits No. 455 and No. 446 at the regular meeting to be held on MONDAY, January 13, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. in Council Chambers, City Hall, 501-3rd Avenue, Fernie BC.

Legal Description:

Purpose:

The applicant has requested a variance to the City of Fernie Sign Bylaw No. 1888 as follows to:

  • Increase the number of maximum signs allowed on the subject property:
    • Total Signs from 3 to 31;
    • Fascia Signs from 1 to 3;
    • Projecting Signs from 1 to 24;
  • Allow for the proposed price changer signs to be interior lit signs (Conditional that only the number portion of the signs be interior lit);
  • Allow the “ESSO” sign panel to be installed on the free-standing sign to have a white background; and
  • Increase the overall height of the sign from 5.5 metres to 5.58 metres (Conditional that the additional .08 metres in height is only to accommodate the bracket associated with the gooseneck lights and their wiring).

Vary City of Fernie Zoning Bylaw No. 1750 to reduce the parking requirement as follows:

 

  • Vary Section 5.5 (a) Figure 5 for the length of two 90-degree angle off-street parking spaces located in the driveway from 5.8 metres to 5.21 metres (Figure 1).
