Wind Chill Warning Issued for Elk Valley

Environment Canada issued a wind chill warning for the Elk Valley. Extreme wind chill values near minus 40 tonight and Friday night.

This is a warning that extreme wind chill conditions are expected or occurring in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..listen for updated statements.

A strong ridge of Arctic air is spreading cold air into the British Columbia Interior beginning tonight. Brisk easterly wind combined with cold temperature will produce wind chill values near minus 35 tonight. Though the winds are not as strong, colder temperatures are expected again Friday night with wind chill values expected near minus 40. These extreme wind chill values are expected to persist through Saturday.
