Highway 3 Resurfacing - Fernie Section

The first section of asphalt resurfacing on Highway 3, between Kikomun Road and Elko, is underway. The next section, from the Fernie Ski Hill to the east Fernie bridge (Leo T Nimsick Bridge), is planned to take place over July and August 2026.
Work hours will be from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday with no work on Sundays or over long weekends. During this time traffic will be down to single-lane alternating traffic and a construction speed zone of 50km/hour will be in place, and could result in traffic delays of approximately 20 minutes.
