Cloudpermit Planning Module Goes Live
June 24, 2026
The City is pleased to announce that Phase 2 of our Cloudpermit implementation is now live, introducing the Planning Module—an online permit tracking system that allows builders, developers, businesses, and residents to submit planning applications, upload documents, and track progress through the development process in one convenient digital platform.
This milestone builds on the successful rollout of the Building Permit Module in June 2025 and expands online services to include planning and development applications such as variance requests and subdivision applications. The Planning Module offers real-time status tracking and improved communication with staff, enhancing the overall user experience.
Beginning June 24, 2026, all new planning applications must be submitted through Cloudpermit. To support the transition period, the City will accept paper applications until July 17, 2026, during which time staff will enter these submissions into Cloudpermit. Effective July 18, 2026, paper applications will no longer be accepted, and all planning applications must be submitted digitally through Cloudpermit.
The Planning Department is available to support the public with any questions or issues during this transition to a fully digital process. If you have any questions, please contact our Planning team at planning@fernie.ca
Cloudpermit continues to support Fernie’s commitment to modernizing services, improving transparency, and making it easier to do business with the City. Residents and applicants are encouraged to explore the new system and access available Cloudpermit resources.
