City Supports 49th Annual Griz Days

The 49th Annual Griz Days festival will take place from March 6 to 8, with many exciting events coming to town for the weekend. Community classics like the Griz Days Parade and Fireworks, Extreme Griz Competition, Bed Race, and Dummy Downhill are all back on the schedule.

The City of Fernie is proud to be providing $40,000 to support this annual event through the Resort Municipality Initiative of the Province of British Columbia. The City will also be adding to the legendary Griz celebration with free public swimming and skating. Join us for some Griz-inspired fun, and don’t forget to get your Griz Pin to ensure you stay out of Griz Jail and for a chance to win $1,000. Proceeds raised support the Fernie Food Bank and other community non-profit organizations

To help facilitate the events and festivities this weekend, staff will be coordinating road closures throughout town from March 6 to March 8, 2026.

We thank the public for their cooperation in keeping these routes clear for the parade and associated festivities, and for abiding by all signage and direction given by City of Fernie staff, traffic control personnel, and Griz Days volunteers.
