Road Closure Notice : Cedar Ave. from Hwy 3 to Bossio Rd.

To help safely and efficiently complete the City of Fernie’s Annual Roads Program, there will be full road closures of Cedar Avenue between Bossio Road and Highway 3 starting July 24.

The full road closures will take place over a two week period, but will not be in effect over the August long weekend. Expect full closures: July 24–31 and August 5–8.
On these dates, Cedar Ave. will be closed between Bossio Road and Hwy 3, with a detour in effect through West Fernie and along Burma Road.

Pedestrian Detour Route:

The full closure provides several important advantages including shortening the project timeline by one week, eliminating traffic backups on Hwy 3 and improving safety for motorists and pedestrians in and around the work zone. Outside of the full closures, single-lane alternating traffic will be maintained. Please follow posted signage and give crews the space they need to work safely.

This road rehabilitation project will enhance pedestrian safety, improve vehicle access, support year-round maintenance, and extend the City’s active transportation network. Construction began in early July and is being carried out by the City’s contractor, Okanagan Aggregates Ltd. The project is expected to be completed by the end of August.
