Notice of Development Permit No. DVP-612

Pursuant to Section 499 of the Local Government Act, public notice is hereby given that Council for the City of Fernie will consider the issuance of Development Variance Permit No. DVP-612 at a Regular Meeting of Council on Tuesday October 28, 2025, at 6:30 PM at the Senior Citizens Drop-In Centre located at 562 – 3rd Avenue, Fernie, BC.

LOCATION: Coal Creek Rd, Fernie
LEGAL DESCRIPTION: Lot 1- District Lot 4589, PID 030-398-738
PURPOSE:
The proposed variance will allow the applicant to vary the Subdivision and Development Servicing Bylaw No. 2514 to vary several standards for the proposed access of the new Montane Campground on Coal Creek Road. The proposed variances are as follows:
1. Vary Bylaw 2514, Schedule A Section 3.1 by:
a. Removing the requirement for curb gutter and underground drainage.
b. Removing the requirement for asphalt surfacing.
c. Removing the requirement for full illumination.
Primary access to the development would rely on the existing Coal Creek Road condition with respect to surface drainage, gravel surfacing, and no illumination.
INSPECTION
A copy of the proposed development variance permit and other relevant documents may in person at City Hall, located at 501 – 3rd Avenue, during the hours of 8am – 4pm Monday to Friday, excluding statutory holidays.

Public participation will be accepted through written submission and must be submitted before 2:00 PM the day of the Council Meeting where the DVP will be considered by any of the following formats:
