Public Notice - Development Variance Permit No. 525

Pursuant to Section 499 of the Local Government Act, public notice is hereby given that Council for the City of Fernie will consider the issuance of Development Variance Permit No. DVP-525 at a Regular Meeting of Council on TUESDAY, JANUARY 24, 2023, at 7:00 PM in Council Chambers at FERNIE CITY HALL located at 501 – 3rd Avenue, Fernie, BC.
Regular Council meetings are available for all members of the public to watch electronically via a Zoom webinar link posted to the City of Fernie website prior to each meeting. Council Meetings can also be viewed via a Facebook live stream from the City of Fernie Facebook page.

Legal Description: The roads dedicated by that part of District Lot 5237 Kootenay District Lying South of the Portion Subdivided by Plan 1280 and the Westerly Extension of the Southerly Boundary of Lot 36 Plan 1280 and West of Parcel B (See 24330I) of Lot 36 Except (1) Parts shown outlined in red on Plans 31725I and 34821I (2) Part included in explanatory Plan 36221I (3) Part included in Plan 4201 (4) Part included in Plan R368 (5) Plan EPP51325 (6) Plan EPP86233 (7) Plan EPP89198 (8) Plan EPP98022 AND (9) Plan EPP114016
Purpose: The proposed variance will allow the applicant to construct a road on the subject lot by varying the Subdivision and Servicing Bylaw No. 1727 as follows:
- Vary Drawing B-5 “Urban Local Residential Highway” to:
- reduce the road width From: 11.0 metres To: 9.0 metres
- Vary Drawing B-9 “Walkway and Lane” to reduce the width of access From: 5.5m To: 4.0m and changing the material of the lane to gravel.
- Vary Schedule G, Part 3.2.2 to permit an alternative light standard and fixture.
