Winterizing Program Underway in City Parks

Fall is in the air, and City staff are busy winterizing our parks and outdoor facilities in preparation for colder weather.

You will see us preparing for winter over the coming weeks by closing seasonal amenities and shutting off water to City parks.

The Splash Park outside the Aquatic Centre is now closed for the season. The water has been turned off and it will be winterized to ensure it is in great shape to re-open next spring.

In the next week City Staff will also be shutting off irrigation and drinking water fountains in all City Parks. They will also be taking down shade sails, and putting away nets at the outdoor tennis courts and pickle ball courts

After the Thanksgiving long weekend our seasonal washrooms in Prentice Park and Rotary Park will be also be closed for the season. The all-season washrooms in Station Square will remain open over the winter.

As we shut down our seasonal facilities, there are still lots of recreation opportunities available. See what activities and programming we have going on at the Fernie Aquatic Centre and Fernie Memorial Arena here.
