"Journey to Iconic Fernie” Electric Vehicle Charging Station Site Work

As part of the “Journey to Iconic Fernie” project, the City of Fernie will be installing electric vehicle charging stations at two key locations in the community: the Visitor Information Centre and City Hall.

The Visitor Information Centre site preparation work will be overseen by KD Electric starting Thursday, September 29th, with completion expected at the end of next week. The contractor will then move to prepare the City Hall site, with completion expected by mid-October. During construction, the contractor will keep access to the Visitor Center and City Hall. Construction signage, traffic pattern changes and barricades will be in place where required. The charging stations are expected to be up and running by December of this year.

As part of the “Journey to Iconic Fernie” project in collaboration with Tourism Fernie, the Community Energy Association, the Chamber of Commerce, and the Fernie Trails Alliance, the City of Fernie is installing four new electric vehicle charging stations at the Visitor Information Centre, and five stations at City Hall. The project will help enhance staging and visitor experience, providing additional amenities to our community and visitors. The project is funded through the Province of BC’s Tourism Dependent Community Fund.
