Let's Talk Active Transportation in Fernie

The City of Fernie is looking for community input as we write our Active Transportation Master Plan (ATMP). The objective of the plan is to create a balanced mobility network that optimizes existing and proposed infrastructure elements and sets a clear foundation for the next 25 years of growth and change.
Some additional objectives of the ATMP include setting the stage for mobility infrastructure and investment, providing the City and the community with more desirable and varied transportation options, a transportation system that is sustainable over time, and the provisioning of mobility options that will benefit both the health of citizens and the natural environment.
The City will be looking for community input on the development of the ATMP through two distinct engagement stages. Phase 1 will happen this fall and seeks insights on values and barriers related to getting around in Fernie. It is anticipated that Phase 2 will take place in the New Year and give the community an opportuntity to share back the concepts and recommendations that emerge.
Community members can provide feedback as part of Phase 1 between September 17, 2020 and October 12, 2020 through letstalk.fernie.ca, including a survey that will open on September 17, 2020. There will also be an online drop-in session Wednesday, September 30 from 5-7 PM via video conference to talk with City staff about the plan. The engagement process will help to inform plan recommendations and scenarios, while validating the vision, goals, and objectives from previous engagements with the community.
