City Re-Opens Outdoor Spaces for Rental

The City of Fernie is once again allowing limited rental of our outdoor spaces and amenities for organized activities that are permitted under current Provincial guidelines.

Staff will be working with user groups to ensure that they are complying with all Provincial requirements and have the required plans in place to operate during COVID-19.

The Mountain Market is one of the familiar summer offerings that you will see operating starting in early July. This year, it will be running with the singular goal of providing our community with access to local food and artisan product.

Farmers' markets were declared an essential service by the Province and are exempt from the mass gathering order (50 people maximum) however, they must comply with physical distancing requirements and hygienic practices, and they will actively be discouraging people using the market as a social gathering place.

Indoor Recreation Facilities remain closed while review sector guidelines, engage key stakeholders on their projected use of the facilities, and work through re-opening strategies.

An update on a recommended re-opening timeline for indoor facilities will come before Council in late July or early August.
