The City of Fernie is seeking applications for the position of Chief Election Officer for the 2022 Local Government & School Board Elections. In addition to managing the election, the Chief Election Officer will be responsible for developing and coordinating election communication strategies, voter engagement and other programs related to the 2022 General Local Elections.
To be considered for the role of Chief Election Officer, the ideal candidate would have:
- A University or College degree in a related field of study, such as Political Science, Public Administration, Communications, Marketing or Media;
- Direct experience as a Chief Election or Deputy Chief Election Officer at the local government level in British Columbia;
- Experience with and or knowledge of elections legislation contained in the Local Government Act, Local Elections Campaign Financing Act, and the Community Charter;
- Familiarity with other B. C. Acts and legislation that affect local government and the election process;
- Knowledge and/or experience using automated vote counting systems and/or mail ballots will be considered an asset; and
- Experience in public-sector communications
