The City of Fernie invites applications from qualified persons for the Casual position of Arena Attendant in the Department of Parks, Facilities, and Recreation. Reporting to the Manager of Parks and Recreation this position performs various duties of a general nature relating to recreation events and programming. 

 

Note this job description is under review through a joint committee between the City and CUPE Local 2093 to more accurately reflect the current roles and responsibilities of all positions at the City.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Attendant is responsible for taking admission fees, tickets, or punch passes during public programming, overseeing these sessions to ensure the operation is conducted safely and enjoyably, and assisting with staff coverage in the arena during weekends and events. This position may be required to work in other areas of Parks, Recreation, and Facilities when related to Recreation services or programs.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to skate confidently
  • Ability to handle cash
  • Ability to organize group activities
  • Positive attitude and good work ethic
  • Basic First Aid Certificate would be an asset

 The Arena Attendant position is casual with no guaranteed hours or benefits.  The rate of pay for this position is $18.15 per hour in accordance with the current CUPE Collective Agreement.  “Hours of work” and “Overtime Standby” and “Call back” Articles shall not apply. This position does not qualify for premiums or shift differentials.
