Spring Freshet Information

We are currently in our spring freshet period.

During this time, it is normal for water levels to rise due to spring run-off.

The City of Fernie is constantly monitoring water levels and has a response plan in place to deal with rising water levels.

The BC River Forecast Centre is also monitoring conditions around the province.

You can get up to date information on any high stream advisories or flood watches here at any time:

If you have concerns surrounding water around your property, the City of Fernie has a self-fill sandbagging station set up outside the Public Works Yard at 1492 Railway Avenue.

In the event of a flood situation, a sandbagging machine will be available to help provide pre-filled sandbags.
