Fire Prevention Week

Fernie Fire Rescue would like to remind the public to take some time this Fire Prevention Week (October 8-14) to make sure they are prepared in the event of a fire.

The theme for this year’s Fire Prevention Week is ‘Every Second Counts: Plan 2 Ways Out!’ The goal of the campaign is to encourage everyone to create an escape plan that includes two different ways to get out of their home during a fire.

Members of Fernie Fire Rescue have been visiting elementary school classes this month to teach kids about fire safety, escape plans, and the importance of practicing before an emergency. They will also once again be running their popular 'Chief for a Day' program where lucky kids are randomly selected from each of the classrooms they visit to spend a day with the Fernie Fire Rescue team.
