Elk River Log Jam

The public is advised that there is currently a large log jam on the Elk River, making the river impassable in the section next to the Transfer Station.
Signage is in place upriver of the log jam asking the public to get off the river and walk the section around this hazard, as it is not safe to pass on the water. Please obey the signage.
The City of Fernie is working with other agencies to determine how to best deal with this situation.
Please remember to exercise caution at all times when recreating on the river.
