A Message from Public Works

The City of Fernie- Public Works Department spreads winter sand onto the roads to maintain safe driving conditions. The plowing of snow onto the boulevard causes sand to accumulate, and as the snow melts from residential frontages, the sand and gravel begins to appear on lawns.

The City requests cooperation in cleaning up the winter sand by not distributing the sand from the boulevard back to the road. If residents could sweep up the sand and grass piles and have them placed in garbage bags for collection at the annual spring cleanup, or deliver them to the transfer station, this would be very helpful.
