Slash Pile Burning

On November 17, 2014 the City of Fernie issued a burning permit, in accordance with section 5 of Fire Protection and Life Safety Bylaw No. 2029, for the Montane Development to do some slash pile burning, at the request of the Fire Chief. Weather conditions on November 18th were favourable, however they suddenly changed on November 19th. This change in weather hindered the dissipation of smoke and as a result burning has been halted.

We wish to advise you at this time, that once weather conditions improve, the slash pile burning will resume. Please direct your questions or concerns to Chief Ted Ruiter, Director of Fire and Emergency Services at 250.423.4226 or by email at ted.ruiter@fernie.ca.
