The City of Fernie is currently accepting applications for a GIS summer student position. This student position is full-time from early May to the end of August with potential for extension dependent on funding. The student role is primarily to assist in the development and deployment of new GIS driven app-based tools to support City staff in streamlining communication to enhance asset management and service delivery practices and Support ongoing work programs across the organization and works with staff to build capacity and decision support through database management, process standardization, system automation, map production, and reporting. Applicants must possess the following:
- Minimum one year of post-secondary education in a technical program with a focus in GIS
- Possess working knowledge of ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Online, and have a good understanding of relational database systems
All applicants must be either a student returning to school in the Fall of 2018 or be in a registered co-operative education program with a focus on geographic information systems. Applicants must possess a valid BC Driver’s License. Wages will be in accordance with the current C.U.P.E. Collective Agreement.
