The City offers the following payment options to customers:
Pre-Authorized Payment Plan
The Pre-Authorized Payment Plan is an optional payment plan which provides an opportunity for property owners to make equal monthly payments for property taxes or utilities. The payments are made on the 15th of each month (or the next business day) by automatic debit from a bank account at any Canadian financial institution to your property tax or utility account.
Send your payment to the City of Fernie, PO Box 190, Fernie BC, V0B 1M0. Mailed payments must be received by the due date noted on the utility bill to avoid the 5% late penalty. Postmarks will not be considered as date of payment. Cheques post dated to the due date are accepted.
By Telephone or Internet
You can pay your utilities by telephone or via the internet by making the necessary arrangements with your financial institution. Payments must be received by the City's financial institution by the due date noted on the utility bill to avoid the 5% late penalty.
City Hall Drop Box
There is a mail slot in the front door of City Hall for after hours convenience. Payments made via this method will be processed the next business day. Payments will be considered late if they dropped off after closing time on the due date.
Bring your utility bill and payment to the front counter at City Hall. We accept payment by cash, cheque or debit card (Interac), but we do not accept credit card payments. Payments accepted Monday to Friday during regular business hours excluding statutory holidays.
