Highway Conditions

Mainroad East Kootenay advises the public Highway 3 at the B.C. Alberta border remains closed in both directions Monday morning while the highway between Elko and Fernie is also closed. The winter storm has raised the risk of avalanche and has thus forced the closure of the mountain passes.
Any eastbound traffic past Fernie is being stopped at Sparwood until the border is re-opened by officials.
In Fernie Public Works crews are out in full force plowing local roads and request the public assist by parking vehicles in your driveway or in compliance with the Parking Policy. We thank you for your patience while crews work to clear the roads during this heavy snow fall.
