UPDATE: Gas Leak in West Fernie

**UPDATE**
 
2:45 PM: Fortis has repaired the gas line, Beach Ave. is reopened and the evacuation order has been rescinded.

12:25 PM: Fernie Fire and Emergency Services are on scene dealing with a gas leak in West Fernie.
Six homes on Beaver St. have been evacuated, and Beach Ave. is closed to all traffic, after an unmarked gas service was hit while crews were working in the area.
Fortis BC crews are enroute from Cranbrook to repair the problem. The evacuation order is expected to be in effect until late afternoon.
The public is requested to stay away from the Beaver St. area until further notice.
An update will be provided as soon as it is available.
