Funding for Water and Wastewater Infrastructure

Funding to the City of Fernie and the Regional District of East Kootenay for two very important projects was announced today. Funding through the Canada's Small Communities Fund will provide up to $6.8M for the West Fernie Water System and up to $1.6M for the James White Well Development project.
Mayor Giuliano stated “Mayor and Council and the City of Fernie express sincere gratitude to MP David Wilks and the Government of Canada and to our MLA Minister Bill Bennett and the Province of BC for each providing one third of the funding for the James White Well Project. The contribution will help the City to switch the supply during freshet and allow continued provision of safe and reliable drinking water to the community.”
