Are you a responsible pet owner?

Cleaning up after your dog is not only respectful to your neighbors and the community, it is the law and you could be subject to a fine under the Dog Licensing, Regulation and Impounding Bylaw No 1995. The City would like to remind all dog owners to please clean up after your dogs, not only when using city parks and trails, but while on city’s streets, sidewalks and neighbours’ lawns as well.

Dogs are required to be under the owner’s control at all times when off their own property. This means that your dog may be leashed at all times unless visiting one of the two designated Off-Leash Dog Parks located at the north end of Annex Park and south of the Fernie Aquatic Centre. Please remember that dogs are not allowed in Rotary Park, Ridgemont Park, or school grounds.

To report a possible violation or find out more about your responsibilities, please contact Bylaw Services at 250.423.2244 or bylaw@fernie.ca, or go to Report a Problem or Request Service.  For more information on regulations and licensing please go to Animal Licensing & Control.
