Operator 1 - Temporary

The City of Fernie is looking for a fulltime Temporary Operator 1 to work in the Public Works Department. Under the general supervision of the Operations Supervisor this position performs a variety of duties related to the operation of equipment and manual labour working in our Streets, Water and Sewer departments.

Applicants must have a solid background in equipment operation as well as be physically fit to perform tasks involving manual labour. Working in teams and alone, the Temporary Operator 1 is required to assist street crews with sweeping, patching, painting and snow removal. Work with utility crews in the maintenance of our water and sewer systems. Temporary Operators are expected to work on our shift crew, working combinations of days, afternoons and weekends depending on the season.
